The Lady Lancers golf team took second place in the Class 2, District 2 state championship on Monday at the Fox Run Golf Club. They finished just seven strokes shy of the district champion Marquette Mustangs, but the Lancers will still advance to sectionals as a team. Junior Mindy Hennrich of Lafayette shot a 76 to take the individual District Championship, beating the runner up from Westminster by five strokes.

Regarding her victory, Hennrich said, “It was good. It’s really good to go on to sectionals, and I’m happy to be going with my team.”

Senior Sammi Charpentier and senior Paige Randazzo also qualified for the upcoming individual sectional tournament at The Links of Dardenne.

Looking forward to the tournament of October 6th, the Lady Lancers are confident.

“Our sectional is really tough, but if we work hard we can probably make it to state again,” said Hennrich. “It’s our home course, our coach is running it. I think our chances are pretty good, we know the course like the back of our hand.”
