Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Lancers advance to Sectionals with success in Districts

The Lafayette Lancers cross country team participated in the Class 4 District 2 Districts on Saturday Oct. 22 at Parkway Central High School.

In the 5000 meter run the girls’ team got second with a total score of 85. They were behind Eureka high school who had a total time of 26.

The first finisher for Lafayette was junior Kelly Carpenter who placed 12th and had a time of 20:27.20.  However, the rest of the team was not far behind, with a split of 36 seconds from first to fifth.

On the boys’ side, the Lancers placed seventh with a total score of 150. The first finisher for Lafayette was junior Jordan West, who got sixth with a time of 16:38.30.

Team captain, senior Maddie Henning said that the team got a lot closer this year. “We just try and find our people and see where that takes us.  If we break up, it’s not the worst thing, but we try to stay together and run as a pack.  I’m really glad we made it to Sectionals as a team, a pack, instead of just a handful of individuals,” she said.
