Boys swim continues winning streak, adds to State cuts

The varsity boys swim team continued its winning streak on Oct. 5, against rival Marquette. The Lancers beat the Mustangs 112-73, putting them at 7-0 for the season.

The meet held not only team success, but individual success as well. senior Alex Vavra, junior Lucas Bruder, sophomore Jon Glaser and freshman Patrick Vega all lowered State qualifying times. The 200 medley relay team, comprised of senior Alex Vavra, juniors Lucas Bruder and Alec Morgan and freshman Patrick Vega, also decreased their State qualifying time to 1:43.62. 

The team now has a total of nine individual State qualifiers, seniors Coleman Swisher and Alex Vavra, juniors Lucas Bruder, Josh Dominato and Alec Morgan, sophomores Jeremy Bruder, Jon Glaser and Connor Parsons and freshman Patrick Vega.

Vega is currently ranked third in the State in the 500 free, and is ranked in the top ten in the 50 free, 200 IM, 200 free, 100 free, 100 butterfly and 100 back.

The Lancers next meet is Oct. 12 at 4:15 p.m. against the Lindbergh Flyers at Lindbergh.
