Two points away from a career milestone, senior guard Taylor Nania steps up to the free throw line She makes the first, putting the Lafayette bench on the edge of their seats. She takes a breath and makes the second shot to score her 1000th career point, Monday night.
The Lancers made the trip from Wildwood to Fenton to take on district rival Rockwood Summit looking for two wins in a row following their 49-33 win over the Lindbergh Flyers two days prior.
The Lancers started off hot in the first quarter leading 12-3. But the Falcons scored eight unanswered points to put the game within one at halftime with the Lancers leading 16-15.
The Lancers again dominated coming out of the half but the Falcons kept the game close and a buzzer beater layup by the Falcons kept the game within reach heading into the fourth quarter with Lafayette only leading 32-28.
It was here in the third quarter that Nania headed to the free throw line after being fouled going for the layup. She made both free throws with ease and was then was surrounded by her teammates in a big celebration after making her 1000th point.

In the fourth quarter the Lancers went on a run with eight unanswered points six of which came from sophomore sisters Emelia and Maria Golfo.
The Lancers ended up pulling away in the last minutes of the game for a 46-36 victory over the Falcons.
Other standout performances came from freshman guard Bella Graham and freshman center Annika Kivisikk. Graham lead the Lancers in scoring and Kivisikk dominated the boards getting nearly every rebound on both offense and defense.
Lafayette lost to Francis Howell Central, 37-58, on Tuesday. The Lancers will play the Longhorns, Friday night, at home for their last game before District playoffs.
