Sport: Girls track and field
Head Coach: Jill Harmon
Last season placement: The team became District champions and placed 5th at the MSHSAA Class 5 State meet with 36 points. 20 of these points were scored by Class of 2024 alum Natalie Barnard, who is a State champion in the 1600m and 3200m races.
Goals for the season: Harmon says the team hopes to be District champions for the fourth year in a row and her bigger goal is to come close to earning a trophy at State.
Expected challenges this season: Harmon says that replacing key distance runners who graduated in past years, and developing young sprinters, will be a challenge this year.
Players to watch: Harmon mentioned all the returning State qualifiers from last season as key athletes to watch this year. She mentioned seniors Avery Brown, Riley Mulligan and Lauren Pauls, junior Sydney Berger and sophomores Kelly Archambeault, Alexis Sandberg and Shaye Witherspoon.
New faces: Harmon mentioned freshmen distance runners Marli Groenewald and Claire Robeson as new runners to watch this year.
