The 5-0 Lancers faced the 1-4 Eureka Wildcats in the Battle of 109, Sept. 17. Coming into the match, Lafayette had scored 10 goals and only conceded 1 over the course of their five games. The first half remained scrappy as both teams had few clear chances to score. In the 2nd Half, Lafayette began dominating play and had multiple opportunities to score but failed to capitalize.
With just over three minutes left in the game, Eureka junior Tyson Sobacke sent in a low cross toward Lafayette’s box that deflected off a Lancer defender and bounced into the goal. The own goal was the lone score of the game, as the game ended 1-0. This loss marks the end of the Lancer’s unbeaten start to the season.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
