On the third play of the game, the Parkway Central had 3rd and long, on their own 21-yard-line. Lined-up in shotgun formation, the ball was snapped high and sailed over sophomore quarter Colin Applebaum’s head and into the end zone.
As Applebaum retrieved the football, he was taken down by a host of Lancers in his own end zone, leading to a safety and 2-0 lead for the Lancers.
This set the tone for the rest game on Friday, Sept. 23, as Lafayette earned a lopsided victory over the Colts. The final score was 58-0, with the Lancer defense only letting up 72 yards in the entire game.

Along with the safety, Lafayette also forced a fumble courtesy of junior Noah Ice, an interception by sophomore Chase Roeder, and pressured Applebaum all game in the backfield.

The Lancer offense also played well with senior quarterback Jack Behl throwing for 248 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Sophomore running back Cody Keen had 101 total yards, with two rushing touchdowns and one receiving. Senior wide receiver Robby Preckel had 116 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Brady Micek contributed offensively with 88 total yards.

Junior Tim Washington also scored a touchdown late in the second quarter off a punt return. The Colts punted the ball towards the Lafayette 40-yard-line, where Washington would receive the ball and nearly slip.
He managed to stay, broke a tackle, juked a Colts defender, before taking off toward the end zone. He would break another tackle then dive into the end zone for a touchdown to make the score 43-0.

Lafayette now holds a perfect 4-0 record to start the season. The defense has only had one game where they conceded more than one touchdown. While the offense has scored 144 points across all four games.
This Friday, the Lancer will face the Pattonville Pirates away from home, The Pirates are currently 1-3, and won their last game against Ritenour Huskies 43-37.
