Watching a small group scrimmage, Ben Lundt, St. Louis City SC goalkeeper and founder of Lundt Pro Soccer Training, shouts words of encouragement to players on Sunday, April 26 n the Lafayette grass soccer field. “The idea behind [the event] was to bring the professional soccer players closer to the community because usually people only get to see us on TV or in the stadium. [Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.

In celebration of winning his second straight state title in the 215 weight class, junior Carter Brown backflips before leaving the mat. Brown won his bout against junior Kobe Rhymes of North Kansas City High School by fall in just 41 seconds. "Carter does what Carter does. We expect [success] out of him and his goals are bigger than the state championship," coach Sam Ritchie said.

As a final preparation for the winter musical “The Addams Family,” LTC performs in front of middle school students on Wednesday, Feb. 4 during lunch time in the Theatre. “The musical was based around the Addams family and their troubles after Wednesday Addams falls in love with a boy from Ohio that is vastly different from the family. Lucas Beineke and his parents, Mal and Alice, are as normal as can be and they struggle to understand the Addams and their way of life. The musical follows the two families as they struggle with secrets, love, and understanding each other,” said senior cast member Lucas Niblett.
A grave success
In the paint, senior forward Drew Pickering attempts to get a shot off, in the Battle of 109. The rivalry match-up remained close all game, before Eureka pulled away late, winning 56-53.

Lancers clinch 23-21 win at first home football game, first Kirkwood win since 2008

Senior kicker Jake Ference made a 30 yard field goal with 21 seconds left to lift Lafayette to a 23-21 win over Kirkwood in the Lancers’ home opener Friday. Senior quarterback Jack Behl completed 19-of-39 passes for 259 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception for The Lancers (3-0). The defense also held its ground with 3 interceptions, 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and 1 touchdown, according to St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Kicking off the first home game of the year, Lancers ran through their signature tunnel as cheer, Escadrille and Lancer Regiment cheer them on.

During the 1st Quarter, Lancers scored a field goal taking a 3-0 lead.

After another Lancer touchdown with a good extra point, the Pioneers fought back, scoring a touch down of their own.

After the Pioneers scored another touchdown, taking a narrow lead of 21-20, kicker Jake Ference scores a field goal to take it back 23-21.

After losing only one game all season, the Lafayette girls volleyball (40-1) celebrates winning the MSHSAA Class5 State Championship, Nov. 7. With the win, the team has now four-peated at State for the second time in school history. "Being a part of the 4-peat was an amazing experience especially since I got to do it with an amazing group of girls. It was an incredible year for all of us," junior middle blocker Peyton Dolly said.

During the Class 6 District 2 Semifinal, senior quarterback Brady Micek hands off the ball to junior running back Cody Keen. With 87 yards, Keen led team in rushing yards and scored a touchdown to help Lafayette beat SLUH, 28-25.

During his semifinal match, senior Carter Welsh (175) grabs the leg of his opponent, senior Donovan Hodges of Liberty, Saturday, Feb. 28. Welsh's win earned him a spot to compete in the state final match. "My favorite part of the weekend was after my semifinal match: celebrating with my coaches, my family, and my teammates. Sharing that moment with the people who have supported me all season made it even better," Welsh said.

At Centene Community Ice Center, a Rockwood Summit forward shoots the puck at sophomore goalkeeper Peter Tomaras while under pressure from multiple Lafayette defenders. The Lancers lost the first game of the two-game series to the Falcons, 4-1, but will meet again at the center, Feb. 20, at 1:30 p.m. "We need to get dialed in and really have a good warmup and get our bodies moving so we can come out fast and ready to go at puck drop," junior defenseman Quentin Parks said.
