Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”
Nine AP exams will transition to digital format in 2025, additional six in 2026

Varsity hockey’s season over in first round

The Lafayette hockey team ended the regular season with an 12-7-2 record and were seeded ninth in the Challenge Cup bracket.

Matched up against the eighth-seed DeSmet Spartans, the Lancers held on to the memory of  a 5-1 loss to the Spartans earlier in the season.

High school hockey playoffs consist of the best of two games, with a short mini game if the teams are tied after the two games.  The first game of the series Lafayette fell to DeSmet 4-0.  Coming into the second game, the team knew the season was on the line.

Having one of the top performances of the season, the Lancers held a 1-1 tie up until about 1:30 left on the clock.  If the game ended in a tie, it would still count as a loss, so Coach Lindsay Middlebrook made the critical decision of pulling sophomore goalie Drew Voglar, who attends McCluer North but plays for the Lancers.

After a little time in the offensive zone, DeSmet cleared the puck down the ice and scored the empty net goal, securing the 2-1 win over the Lancers, knocking them out of the playoffs and ending the season for Lafayette varsity hockey.
