Lady Lancers try to look forward after disappointing first tournament

The Lady Lancers found themselves playing for seventh place Friday night against an 0-2 Francis Howell team. This was actually the best game played by the Lancers, however they would fall short and lose 51-45, ending the tournament with a record of 0-3.

The opening game feaured a matchup against Duchesne in the Randy Perkins tournament. Poor shooting was the main problem for the team as they only shot 26% and put up a mere 36 points.

Sophomore Maddie Seifert led the way with 12 points but would eventually foul out of the game, leaving the Lancers with no chance. Good free throw shooting by Duchesne led them to the victory 58-36 over the Lancers.

The Lady Lancers would move down to the consolation bracket and play a much more competitive game against Fort Zumwalt West, but it was no where near pretty.

After putting up just one point in the first quarter, the offense didn’t get much better putting up only 25 points the whole game and losing 27-25. The defense was there in full fury for this game, however they could not get the offense rolling.

Seifert led the way again with nine points, but shot just 2-10 on the game. This was a common statistic for the Lancers as the whole team would shoot a combined 8-46 on the night, even worse than the game before.

The Lancers played their best ball of the season in their final game of the tournament and need to look forward and improve on their mistakes for the rest of the season.

They will play Hazelwood West Tuesday at 7 p.m. at home, looking for their first win of the season.
