Lady Lancer volleyball marches on to Sectionals

After obliterating the competition in Districts, the Lady Lancers find themselves in a dramatic rematch against St. Joe’s to see who moves on in the State bracket.

Their first opponent in Districts was Parkway South (13-15-2). The Lady Lancers made quick work of them, winning the first game 25-11, then the following one 25-9 to clinch their spot in the District Championship against Eureka (20-12-2).

The first time they played Eureka during the season, the Lancers struggled in the second game to put away the Wildcats, but prevailed and won the match 2-0.

The Lancers came out strong in the opening game of the Championship, winning by an astounding score of 25-4. They didn’t slow down in the second game, winning 25-10. Junior Maggie Scott shined with 15 assists while junior Lily Johnson dropped the hammer on Eureka with five powerful kills in the match.

The stage is set for Sectionals on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Two powerhouses in girls volleyball rematch to see who will move on and continue their State Championship aspirations.

This is a rematch of the season opener for both teams, where Lafayette showed their dominance early. The Lancers came out strong and won the first match 25-17. The second game was tougher, but they kept their composure and won 25-22, shocking the Angels.

The Lancers proved they were even better than their State Championship team last year, they have rolled to an incredible 34-0 season and have gained national recognition.

The game will be hosted by Lafayette, where we will see which team’s 2012 season will come to an end.
