Going into the post season, the boys cross country team is looking very solid.
The boys team, ranked fifth in the State by Big River Running, is certainly going to be gunning for the podium this November.
Last week, at the Patriot Classic, they had three guys under 16 minutes— senior Derek Legenzoff at 15:33, senior Jordan West at 15:55 and freshman Dylan Quisenberry at 15:56—and six guys under 17 minutes—senior Derek Albright at 16:35, sophomore Josiah McElmurry at 16:51 and junior Tyler Laudeman at 16:54.
These times, not factored into the Week 3 Big River Running Rankings, place the boys in a ridiculously good place going into the post season, rivaling such teams as West Plains, Rock Bridge, SLUH and Blue Springs for a trophy if they can repeat these performances.
Being under 16 minutes places Quisenberry as one of the best freshmen in the State. Quisenberry, along with McElmurry and Laudeman place Lafayette in a great position for future years, as this is an incredibly young team, especially for boys, who usually peak in later years in college.
This is good news for the team as they head off to Districts at Parkway Central this weekend, hoping to advance to Sectionals and then State.
