Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”
Nine AP exams will transition to digital format in 2025, additional six in 2026

Be The Change Team

Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a school where their motto is “That all students and staff feel loved, celebrated, and respected.”?

At our school that is exactly what the Be The Change Team is trying to accomplish.

After Challenge Day, hosted on Sept. 13, Lafayette staff and students worked together to form the Be The Change Team, focusing on what Challenge Day’s main purpose is: Growing together as a school.

Challenge Day was a day where students from all different walks of our school came together, dropped the ‘water line’ and got real.

The Be The Change Team is a group of students that are working together to bring our school together and make everyone, students and staff, feel loved, celebrated and respected.

How exactly can this be accomplished?

“Positive acts of change”. James Waeckerle, social studies teacher and sponsor of the Be The Change Team, said.

But the team doesnt only want to bring the school together they want to transform our school. Make our school a better place to come to each and every day. And what an amazing change that will be for our school.

It’s simple, any body can join, any one can help out. “You just have to be committed to wanting to make Lafayette a great place that all students can feel loved, celebrated, and respected” Waeckerle said.

Students from all walks of our school are joing in the club.

Their meetings are on before and after school on different days each week to try to make it accessible to all students who have after school activities.

Junior Brooke Bonderer tried to explain in her own words what the Be The Change Team means to her.

“In my words it is a group of students who come to school every day and truly care about not also being successfully academically but in the relationships at school, and they are the types of people who see a problem and maybe never did act on it but are there now and have the knowledge to help a person and give them that two minutes to talk to someone and to just be open and to really put down all the walls. Bonderer said.
