Letters to Juliet more than typical chick flick

I frequently subject myself to movies that make me tear-up with empathy for the characters, but Letters to Juliet was more than the typical chick flick.

The movie takes place in Italy and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. It emphasizes the whole romantic, falling in love thing.

Amanda Seyfried is wonderful, and captured the audience. She really brings her character, Sophie, to life and the acting was exquisite. All of her co-stars were great, but I would say Vanessa Redgrave completely stole the audiences attention. Her performance as Claire, the elderly woman looking for her long lost love, was heart-wrenching. She was absolutely wonderful.

The message being portrayed in the story was totally cliche’ but chick flicks usually have the same theme: find your true love and go after them. I’d call this “the notebook” of the year.

I give the film 4.5 out of 5 stars. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good tear-jerker.
