Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Students will be able to purchase parking passes online beginning July 26. The Lafayette High School parking lot contains a total of 980 spaces.

As summer wraps up and the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year is close by, information such as yearbook sales, schedules and parking passes will be soon released to students.

The 2024 Legend yearbook will go on sale Aug. 1 with a Back to School Special price of $70 through Aug. 31. After that date,  yearbook will go to its regular price of $75. Yearbooks can either be ordered online with a credit card, or there is a form that ca be downloaded and mailed in with a check. That form and more information about yearbooks, including Grad Ad sales, can be found here.

Also for the new school year, freshmen, sophomores and juniors will have their school pictures for their IDs and yearbook taken Aug. 24 during the homeroom/AcLab period. Seniors need to sign up for a portrait date with Inter-State Studios using the Sign-Up Genius links for one of these dates: Aug. 8, Aug. 16, Aug. 23 or Sept. 11.

Parking permits will be available for purchase on July 26 on Parent Pay online. After students have made the payment online, they can go to Lafayette and choose their parking spots.

Renaissance seniors will be able to choose their spots on Aug. 18 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Lafayette. Renaissance sophomores and juniors will be able to choose their spots from 1:45 -2:30 p.m. Renaissance status is assigned to students who have achieved a 3.0 grade point average or higher.

All other students will be able to go to Lafayette for parking spots from 2:30 -3:30 p.m. If students aren’t able to make it on that day, they will be able to choose their spots on Aug. 21-22.

If students don’t have their licenses now, but get them during the year, they can apply for a parking spot by talking to their class office.

Before students come to school to choose their parking spots, they should have their online application completed, bring their driver license with them and a payment if they did not complete the payment online.
