Many students hold part-time jobs at fast food restaurants, but no one ever thinks about teachers working behind the counter in such a position. However, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, staff from Lafayette will work at McDonald’s to raise money for the Renaissance program.
15 percent of the sales at the McDonald’s located at the intersection of Manchester and Clarkson Rd. will be donated to the Renaissance program.
Renaissance participated in this same fundraiser in the fall of 2011, and it was deemed a success.
“It’s worth the time and effort- or we wouldn’t do it again. We wouldn’t ask our parents and students [to participate] if it wasn’t beneficial to us,” Assistant Principal Tim Jones said. He will be working the fundraiser from 6 to 7 p.m.
During the fall fundraiser, Jones worked as a bussboy, cleaning tables as students left the restaurant.
Students are looking forward to the event, since they are not accustomed to seeing positions switched.
“It will be funny to see [teachers] taking my order for once,” freshman Marissa Gress said.
