Music in our Schools concert set for Oct. 18

Every year the band, orchestra and choir hold Music In Our Schools (MIOS) concerts to perform music with other schools in the Rockwood School District. The choir will hold its first MIOS concert on Oct. 18.

Students from several elementary schools will combine to perform with Lafayette. Green Pines and Babler Elementary schools will be attending. Crestview Middle School and Wildwood Middle School participate every other year because they do the MIOS concert with Eureka and Marquette as well.

Each school will have its own performances and there will be at least one song that all the schools sing together. This year, the song is When You Believe.

Senior Haley Harrison has participated in choir since she was a freshman. She enjoys the MIOS concert because it is different because it doesn’t only involve one school.

“I really like to go to a concert and be in a concert. It is fun performing with the little kids,” Harrison said.

The MIOS concert will start at 7 p.m. and will take place in the Gym.
