Before the start of each school year, students receive their schedules at orientation. For many, it is an exciting time to see who they have classes with in the coming year. But some students realize they don’t want to take a class they chose to take previously, or end up with a blank hour.
For those students, the best way to deal with the issue is to act as soon as possible and work with your counselor to fix your scheduling issues. Be sure to look at what date and time your counselor has allotted to assist your grade level (see schedule correction date calendar below).
Counselor Marybeth Desloge said, “During the registrations, counselors will help students with mistakes only.”
Mistakes include a blank hour, two classes the same hour, no prerequisite, earned credit for class in summer school and seniors needing a class for graduation.
For requested changes, such as dropping a class because of difficulty, “students must have a note with a parent signature or a schedule change form completed and signed by a parent in order to consider this type of change,” Desloge said.
The schedule change form is available in the guidance office.
On the first day of school, Aug. 17, only mistakes will be dealt with during the problem hour.
“All student requested changes after school begins must submit a written request for a schedule change to their grade level principal for approval,” Desloge said.
