On Nov. 5, 2011 World Series MVP and Class of 2001 graduate David Freese was spotted at Lafayette.
Freese, the Cardinals third baseman who played a vital role in Game Six of the World Series has become a hero to the students of his alma mater. After the World Series, many students begged Freese over social networking sites, such as Twitter, to make an appearance at Lafayette. So, this visit caused much commotion and excitement among students who were at school for sports practices.
Freshman Erin Newcomer and junior Megan Pregler said Freese appeared at Lafayette around 5:10 p.m. Newcomer was able to meet him, but Pregler just missed the opportunity.
When Pregler found out that he was there, she said “My jaw dropped from disbelief and I just stood there. I literally said ‘are you kidding me?'”
