In order to complement what they learned in the classroom, Thursday, Oct. 27, both hours of AP Art History headed off to Forest Park to go through the art they had already learned.
The first part of the field trip involved the reviewing what the students already knew about gothic cathedrals by visiting a neogothic church in University City called Holy Communion Episcopalian Church.
At the church, the students got to review the parts of the church by seeing a church in real life, not just in the textbook.
Then, the group headed off to the St. Louis Art Museum where they got to see the Monet water lillies exhibit, have free time and go through the chronology of the class up to this point in the year.
Senior Keith Skubic said, “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see the Monet water lillies.”
The triptych originally was split up into three different cities: St. Louis, Kansas City, and Cleveland. They were brought together for this exhibit.
During the free time, students were left do look at whatever they wanted.
Senior Hannah Thurauf was happy to see a Rothko painting during her free time.
“We recently saw the play, Red, and now I got to see a Rothko painting. That was the thing I gained from the most.”
