Out and About: Fillipo’s
For Homecoming, my group made plans to go to Fillipo’s in the Chesterfield Valley. I had a mixed feeling about it, knowing I had never been there before, and my suggestion was Charlie Gitto’s.
When my group got there, we were immediately seated and the owner came up to us to take our drink orders the second we sat down. It was a little chilly in the restaurant, but it felt good after being outside for an hour.
We had three options on what to order: Fettuccini Alfredo, Cavatelli Con Broccoli or Spaghetti Bolognesse. I ordered the Cavatelli Con Broccoli, since I had it at the Pasta House plenty of times and wanted to see the difference.
However, everyone was given the Filippo Insalata salad first. A lot of people picked at it, but I enjoyed it.
Most of the group ordered the Fettucini Alfredo, which came out a few minutes before the other orders. When I got my order, it was still steaming hot and smelled amazing. I took a bite and immediately decided it was better than any Pasta House or Charlie Gitto’s I’ve ever been to.
The owner frequently checked on us and asked if we needed anything, which I thought was very nice. He was very social and made sure everything was up to our standards.
I didn’t finish my dish, since it felt like a lot to eat at once, but I really enjoyed it.
The menu has a variety of Italian items, which they provide on their website. Everything on the online menu sounded amazing. The prices are relatively cheap (depending on what you order—anything with seafood tends to be pricier) and definitely worth the money. They also take reservations by phone or their website.
My only complaint was the amount of time it took to pay. It might have been because there were eight different transactions to be performed, but being the last ones to leave, it was a little aggravating, considering the restaurant wasn’t too crowded.
Despite that, I definitely recommend everyone to visit this amazing restaurant. Next time you want to try something new, go to Fillipo’s.
