Humans of Lafayette: Meet Daniel Head
April 4, 2016
For some, music doesn’t come easy. The ability to create a melody out of nothing is hard. But for Daniel Head, junior, jamming out with a guitar in his hands is natural.
Head first started playing the guitar when he was in third grade.
“Nothing specifically drew me to it. I just wanted to try something new,” he said.
Since then, he has developed his musical skills, and continues to play the guitar daily. Despite playing for the last eight years, Head has never really taken part in any guitar competitions since he’s began.
“I used to do talent shows in middle school, but that’s about it,” head said.
However, Head still plays guitar as part of an extracurricular activity. He is currently a part of Tuesday Night Rock Band, run by guitar teacher Traci Bolton. The band is currently practicing for their next show, the Lafayette Guitar Festival.
“One of the songs we’re doing is ‘I Don’t Need No Doctor’ by John Mayer,” Head said.
Every guitarist has a favorite one that they like to use, and for Head, it’s no different.
“My favorite guitar right now is probably my Fender American Deluxe Telecaster,” he said.
For those looking to see Head in action, the Guitar Festival will be Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in the Theater.
