The Last Time I… Got a Dog
May 11, 2015
For junior Annalise Alvarez her family grew from five to six after her visit to a breeder. The Alvarez’s had know for a while they wanted a new addition to the family. They already have a black lab named Baxter, and they wanted a friend for him.
Although puppies are a lot of work, Alvarez and her sister had their hearts set on an English Bulldog puppy. So when the family went to the pet store and saw two adorable English bulldogs they knew they needed one. The connection with their new dog, Jake, was immediate.
“When we first saw Jake we knew he was perfect for our family,” Alvarez said, “With those precious fat rolls how could we resist.”
As soon as the Alvarez’s took Jake home he fit right in. Baxter and Jake got along right away and played together really well.
“My dogs even play soccer together; we kick the ball around to them, and they will kick it right back. It’s so cute to watch,” Alvarez said.
Although having a puppy can be fun, it is also a lot of responsibility with house training, and teaching him commands like sit and stay. Getting the dog has definitely taught Alvarez a thing or two about being responsible.
“I have to feed and [give] water to Jake everyday. It can kind of be a pain, but if it means having Jake it’s worth it”, Alvarez said.
The two have been inseparable since the family got Jake in April. Alvarez and Jake are always together playing outside or just lounging around the house.
That day in April when the Alvarez’s adopted their new puppy, their family grew and Alvarez said it was definitely for the better.
