Out and About: Sky Music Lounge provides local, cheap musical venue alternative for students
Sky Music Lounge is the perfect place for those that just enjoy music and discovering new local bands. Most of the local shows are held in the upstairs part of the Lounge called The Loft at Lucerne.
Entry ranges from free to $10 and there is no minor surcharge fee. This is a welcome change from most other venues, where everybody not over 21 has to pay an extra fee.
It is a very casual laidback place and not for an normal outing of food and music. Though Sky Music Lounge does not serve food, they do have soft drinks, and the live entertainment is supplemental.
There are a wide variety of bands that play. High school bands all the way up well-known regional bands like Jake’s Leg and Vote 4 Pedro have performed there in the past. Last summer “Sky Music” even allowed a rock summer camp from Fazio’s Frets and Friends to perform with their bands, most of which composed of middle and high school students.
Sky Music Lounge is open on Fridays and Saturdays unless there is a special event.
Lafayette 2013 graduate John Ray will be hosting a St. Louis Music Showcase at the Sky Music Lounge on Thursday, Sept. 5.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
