The ‘unoffical’, ‘offical’ Chemistry Club is exactly what the title sounds like, nothing but chemistry, chemistry, and wait for it….. more chemistry.
Made up of mostly seniors, Chemistry Club is more of a student-run class, then a club at all. Meeting about every other week based upon sponsor Jeff Marx’s schedule the students review old material, new material and preform labs that Marx always wanted to do.
Although some students are using this club as a way to have fun with more chemistry because they are no longer taking the class, others are using it to help prepare for college chemistry and even still some are using this club as a way to prep for a national exam in the spring.
So far only about 10 to 12 students are participating but no one is turned away, any one is welcome to join but Marx warns it is not for everyone.
“It’s completely student driven, I don’t have any idea or ambitions for it, you know it’s got several purposes, some of the kids want to take an exam in the spring it’s a national exam it’s called the chemistry Olympiad, some of them want to do that, not all of them do. A lot of them just come in to do more chemistry, a lot of them are seniors and they’re not doing chemistry in a formal way this year so they come in to see some of the things that are going on” Marx said.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
