Out and About: PM BBQ

There’s a new definition to the phrase, “finger-lickin’ good,” brought on by some of the most succulent, fall off the bone flavors in the West County area.

PM BBQ, located at 103 Chesterfield Towne Centre, is a newcomer in the Chesterfield Valley’s expansive collection of delicious treats, yet it features an assortment of flavors unique to this restaurant and its “Memphis flavors” alone.

PM BBQ’s focus on, what their website denotes as, “Great, slow-smoked Memphis style BBQ. Mouthwatering pulled pork, tender, tasty baby back ribs, award winning smoked chicken, and of course great tasting brisket, all cooked with a dry rub,” is truly intriguing and delicious, as their consistently light, smoky flavors create the perfect blend between southern cooking and true barbecue.

From the moment you walk in the door, as the sound of a cowbell greets your entrance, PM BBQ’s luscious smells of slow-smoked meats of all kinds overpower you in the greatest sense of those olfactory senses.

The ambiance of the restaurant is one that is inviting, homey, yet not over the top. The inconsistently cut wooden tables and random assortment of chairs surrounding them, along with the use of soda six-packs to contain the sauces, emphasizes the southern-household feel of the restaurant and creates an inviting atmosphere. The bright colors and random posters and license plates hanging on the walls also create an appealing ambiance in the same respect.

The barbecue’s pulled pork sandwich is delicious with its perfect buns and simple, yet elegantly smoky meat piled high. There is no room for disappointment in that classic.

If there are two concerns with this restaurant, it’s the wait time for dine-in patrons and the grease involved in the sandwiches themselves, however, the wait is worth it for the delectable food and as for the grease, a little oil never hurt anyone.

Overall, PM BBQ is a great place to eat for a fair price, as a pulled pork, chicken, and brisket sandwich is only $7.95, a meal which includes two homemade sides such as smokehouse beans, green beans and homemade potato salad.

So, if you want great barbecue in West County, try PM BBQ.
