Meyer creates popular online anime story

After writing for three years, junior Kelly Meyer’s anime story Fading Love has gone from one of the thousands stories online to one of popularity; with fans creating stories, videos and art in tribute to it.

Q1. What started the idea of writing a story?
“I was in  eighth grade and I was hanging with my friend Maddie Bowman. We randomly started watching a TV show called Naruto, which made me bring up my old dream of being a ninja! The ironic part is she wanted to be one too! So we began combining old ideas from our childhood, which evolved into our current characters of Fading Love, and started the whole story which is based around Naruto.”

Q2.  When did the story get so popular?
“It got popular after I started posing my art and video’s online. I’m an animist, so I drew up all our characters and made some pro-mo’s for the stories.”

Q3. How many views did it get, and what are some of the tributes to it?
I posted a lot of the story on a site called Fan Fiction. It has about 2,000 or so views. My art site for the story has over 20,000 views. Using my art and story line, people often add my Character, Kaname, into video tributes. Others who also write ninja fan fictions incorporate my characters with their stories (with my permission of course).”

Q4. Give a summary of your story.
“14 year old Kaname just moved back to her old village. She has no recollection of her past or who she was. That’s when she meets Sasuke, a quiet, punk ninja with a killer secret. As the two grow closer, memories seem to fly back to Kaname, but not without a cost. Something about him seems so familiar… too familiar. Right as the veil is about to be lifted, things get difficult; That Girl gets in the way. This mystery person, and her best friend, Aya, will do anything to stop their friend Kaname from remembering what happened six years ago. With evil forces arising, and painstaking betrayal tearing these friends apart, will love be enough to cover up the scars’ of the past, or will fate force them to fade with the rising smoke?”

Q5. For the future, do you have any plans for the story or for writing in general?
“Yes, yes, yes! I have officially copyrighted the story’s general concept and the characters. If I ever get it published, which I hope I do, I plan on omitting the Naruto names and just using the basic story plot of Fading Love.”
