Junior Christopher Lenz works hard. Like many students, his schedule is loaded with AP classes. But unlike many of his peers, Chris succeeds. He successfully manages his time to stay on top of each of his classes, while still having a little time for fun.
What do you do for fun?
That’s a very appropriate question, since I have received that very same question many times. People ask me, “What do you possibly do for fun because you seem to work all of the time?” But I watch movies occasionally; I will take my dog out, take my cats out and run around with them. I like every once in a while playing a sport, but I don’t do it as part of a team. And that’s pretty much it. I primarily focus on my work, and that’s suited me pretty well.
How do you spend most of your time?
Well, I’ll go home, and usually take a nap because I get tired easily unfortunately, and I will start my studying process. I take breaks every 45 minutes or so, and listen to the radio. I listen to just about anything; I’ll just flip through all of the channels until I find something I like. Even with that, I procrastinate a lot, so I don’t get all my work done always, which is a problem, but I’m working on that. I’m actually reading a book on procrastination.
Out of your four AP classes, which is your favorite?
I really like AP Gov because that’s something that I’m going to go into at a later date. I’d like to major in Political Science, so that’s very topical and very appropriate for what I’d like to do with my future.
What would you like to do with your future?
I would like to go into law, I’d like to maybe go into politics at some point, either as an advisor or as a candidate myself. I’d like to maybe double major in economics and political science.
If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
I would be a rhinoceros because when I was very young, I just loved rhinoceroses and I wanted to be a large mammal biologist when I was younger, so I loved to go to the zoo and see the rhinoceroses and, you know, take pictures of them with my little camera. And I had a lot of the Zoology magazines, National Geographic type magazines, and I finally decided, in order to broaden my range, I needed to include hippos as well. So I guess I’d want to either be a hippo or a rhinoceros because of that emotional connection to the animals.
