Sanfelippo places 29th at girls golf State tournament
October 24, 2016
The season is officially over for girls golf as the State tournament came to close. Paige Sanfelippo was the only participant from Lafayette and finished with a total score of 171 with 82 in round one and an 89 in round two and tied for 29th along with four other opponents.
As foreseen, Lafayette wouldn’t be able to place as they only had one person qualify for State. Nonetheless, Head Coach Katrina Clark was proud of the team this year.
“We had a great season,” Clark said. “We were 10-1, finished tied for first in one tournament, second in Conference, second in Districts which got us to Sectionals as a team. We have a lot to be proud of and to build on for next year.”
Sanfelippo is only a junior this year and will be a notable player to watch when next season rolls around.
“Paige did a phenomenal job at State. It was her goal this year just to make it to the State championship, which is not easy to do, and she finished 29th. I was so proud of her efforts and accomplishments there. She represented our school very well. I am excited for next year as we are bringing in some young talent, but sad to see our seniors go. We say goodbye to six awesome seniors this year. They have contributed a lot to our program on and off the golf course.” Clark said.
