After a hard fought weekend at the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 4 District 1 Championship, the Lafayette varsity wrestling squad came home with a bronze medal.

The Lancers ended with a combined score of 172.5, putting them 4.5 and 11 points behind second place Jackson and first place Seckman, respectively.

While the team as a whole performed admirably, individual performances put up this weekend can not be ignored, such as senior Jason Carson and junior Alex Wier, who both placed first in their respective weight classes.

Due to these performances, the squad will send nine wrestlers to the MSHSAA Wrestling Championships in Columbia. Seniors Jason Carson, Justin Perry and Alec Reid, juniors Chase Behrndt, Brendan McKenna, Noah Robinson and Alex Wier, sophomore Austin Stofer, and freshman Cameron Wegener will all be representing the Lancers.

Wrestling at State begins on Thursday Feb. 19 at 5 pm, and continues on until Saturday Feb. 21.
