Lafayette hosts various schools for Contest of Champions
October 2, 2015
Last weekend, there was a marching band contest hosted by the Lafayette called Contest of Champions.
There were 16 schools that attended, which include Eureka, Fort Zumwalt East, Fort Zumwalt South, Francis Howell, Francis Howell North, Hazelwood West, Hickmann, Marquette, Parkway Central, Parkway South, Parkway West, Rockbridge, Rockwood Summit, St Charles West, Washington and Wentzville-Liberty.
The bands come in from around the region and perform a preliminary show. After each show, there were 6 judges that scored the bands on how they performed. Then, the band that just performed was taken back to a room and shown what they just performed and how they could improve.
Although the Lafayette marching band hosted the contest, they did not perform with the other bands. They did, however, perform a expedition on Fri. Sept. 25, 2015.
Drill Major Babbu Reddy said “Contest of Champions was great this year. We had a lot more bands competing this year because of the new turf field. All of the Rockwood high schools were there which made it a lot of fun to run the event.”
At the end of the contest, there were scores for the best performers, first place going to Rockwood Summit, second place going to Francis Howell North, and third going to Fort Zumwalt South. All results can be found here.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
