A Homecoming preview for next week

The 2015-2016 year Homecoming is taking a competitive turn with this year being game themed. Activities start off on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Glow Run at the stadium.

“We turn the Glow Run into an obstacle course, and so it’s going to be a Hunger Games-esque. It’s just a celebration of all types of games,” Student Council (STUCO) sponsor David Choate said.

With hallway decorating, dress up days, the football game and the parade, Homecoming serves as a busy week for all.

“I don’t usually participate in Dress Up Days just because I forget usually. It’s in my best intention to attempt, but sometimes I fall flat,” Choate said.

Of all the various Homecoming activities, the dance, Choate says, is his favorite part of Homecoming week.

“I’m most excited to see the dance, it’s awesome to see all the STUCO members putting in their hard work and putting in time to make the dance nice for over a thousand kids. Seeing all the students dressed up and clean dancing the night away,” Choate said.

To get everyone roweled up for the big game, students will attend a Pep assembly Friday, Oct. 2 at the end of the school day, with students playing various games, performing activities and witnessing or having performances.

Although, the game of Tug of War, a student favorite in which they compete against the teachers, will no longer be played at the Pep assembly this year.

“We are removing Tug of War in the Pep Assembly and replacing it with shorter games that will incorporate both staff and students,” Choate said.
