The boys volleyball team regained momentum, winning 2-0 against 4th ranked (in Suburban West Conference) Lindbergh on Tuesday, April 23.
The Lancers, who won against Marquette two days earlier, now reside in second place in the Suburban West Conference with five wins in league play, just two shy of top ranked Mehlville. However, Lafayette has dominated and leads in overall play, with 17 victories, only four losses and one tie.
Senior Ryan Gettinger and junior Mike Chard have contributed immensely to the squad’s success.
Not only is Chard the front-runner in serving, attacks and assists within the team, he also resides amongst the top players in the league. Chard has a 93.63 percent success rate in serving and 16 aces. In addition, he has 67 kills, 186 attacks, 11 blocks, 75 digs and 102 serve receives.
Gettinger is not far behind with a 90.30 percent success in serving, 7 aces, 26 kills, 86 attacks and 3 blocks. He passed Chard in defense with 172 digs and 119 service receives.
The team will play at home against District rivals Eureka Thursday, April 25 at 5:15 p.m. in hopes of adding onto their two game winning streak.
