People all across the Chesterfield and West County areas have been worrying about the supposed sighting of a mountain lion.
According to an article by stltoday.com, a Chesterfield resident spotted and photographed a mountain lion on Jan. 12, and the photographs have now been confirmed as valid by the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Although the Missouri Department of Conservation has not released an exact location of the sighting, it has been confirmed that the mountain lion was indeed within the Chesterfield city limits.
The stltoday.com article stated that Jeff Beringer, a research scientist who works for the Missouri Department of Conservation said, “We don’t know anything else about this cat other than it was [in Chesterfield.]”
However, the article also stated that mountain lions pose no threat to humans or pets because there are “no documented cases of mountain lions attacking livestock, pets or people.”
In other words, there is no need to worry about this sighting because of the reclusive nature of the animal.
