District to showcase student talent at art show

Selvidge Middle School will host the annual Rockwood School District Art Show this weekend, April 9-10 from noon- 3:30 p.m.

The art show will consist of pieces from artists ranging from preschool to 12th grade.

“It’s very overwhelming. It’s the entire middle school gym plus every hallway in the middle school filled with artwork from the elementary, middle and high schools,” art teacher Emily Benner said.

According to the Rockwood website, children will also get the chance to have their faces painted and “create their own chalk painting masterpieces.”

Also through the art show, Ecocycle, a hauling and recycling company, will be recycling any used electronics that people would like to have recycled.

Freshman Shelby Fechter’s dad is the owner of Ecocyle and she said, “You can bring any electronics that don’t work or do work and the company will take and recycle them.”

Most electronics are free to recycle, but some may require a small fee.  For a list of recyclable items and any costs involved, visit this website:
