Without knowing, senior Hannah Henderson became the Lafayette girls wrestling all-time wins leader.
Henderson secured her 118th win Wednesday night in the girls team’s 48-32 loss against Northwest in the Theater at Lafayette, Dec. 11. After the girls match, the boys earned the win over Northwest 44-33.
Henderson broke four-time State champion and Class of 2022 alum Faith Cole’s previous record.
Henderson learned that she broke the record when surprised by her coach and teammates, “I had no clue I was coming up on [the record],” Henderson said.

After moving from the 165 pound to 175 pound weight class, senior Jeremiah Drake slithered out of a bottom position and secured a pin on his Northwest opponent, earning him the victory. Drake, a new transfer from Indiana, helped the Lafayette boys wrestling team win the dual match against Northwest 44-33.

Other notable Lancer wins were senior boys wrestler Aidan Schoen, who beat his opponent by a major 15-5 decision, junior girls wrestler Julia Dean, who also won by major decision and sophomore boys wrestler Max Rowe, who prevailed over his opponent and State finalist Eli Porter.
