At the Forest Park Invitational, LJ Groenewald tries to pass the runners beside him. Groenewald placed 14th in state last year. “My goal is to inspire the new guys on the team and to show them how to have fun. I want to be a senior the younger guys can look up to and learn from,” Groenewald said.

Coach: Sean O’Connor

Last season recap: 3rd place at District Championship, 6th at State Championship

Current record for the season: 2nd place finish at the Fort Zumwalt North Invitational, 5th at the Festus Bowles Invitational, 15th at the Gans Creek Invitational

Player Intel:

“I think we can do great. We did lose a lot of great seniors last year but I know if we can work together and run as a team we can do great things,” Groenewald said.

“With the cross country team going through a transitional period with numerous seniors graduating last year, many would think that our goals would change as well. However, our goals as a team still remain to place: top 4 at districts and compete at state with the idea of bringing home a high finish as a team on the varsity level,” Berger said.

Coach Intel:

“I hope we can qualify for state as a team [this year],” O’Connor said.
