The Lady Lancer softball team’s dominant season came to a crushing end on Tuesday when they lost the District 4 championship game to the Eureka Wildcats, with a score of 5-0.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead with a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning.

Coach Ashley Lewis believes that the loss was due to a troubled offensive performance.

Lewis said, “Honestly, we beat ourselves. We didn’t have any errors, but we didn’t score. We didn’t hit. We had 3 hits in the game. It was a terrible loss. It was just so emotional, so disappointing. We had a goal in mind. and we fell short.”

In spite of this year’s disappointing finish, the team is cautiously optimistic.

Lewis said, “I’m excited. We do lose some key players, and the girls have some big shoes to fill, but our infield looks strong,” Lewis said. “Our pitching will be an area of concern, but I think some girls are ready to step up and fill those roles.”
