Girls swimming recap: looking towards State
February 18, 2014
Qualifying for State bodes well for any team, and for the Lady Lancers varsity swimming & diving team, it’s no different. Claiming the title of Conference champions and going undefeated in all of their dual meets were just some of the reasons why the varsity girls have had little to no bumps in the road to State.
Individual highlights include senior Mae Riordan, junior Claire Kirchhoefer and many more girls all qualifying for State, as well as freshman Lily VanBiljon getting her Junior National cut on top of a spot in State competition.
Looking ahead to the championship, senior Mollie Macrae said, “We’re hoping to crack the top 4.”
While State is obviously the top priority for the varsity girls swimming team, it’s important to look ahead to the future. When asked about what she hopes for returning swimmers next season, Macrae also said, “Well the seniors tried to make this season a really great experience for everyone, so hopefully that continues for years to come.”
Championships begin on Feb. 21 and last through the next day.
