Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

As a reward for defeating Marquette 41-7 on Oct. 27 to advance through Districts, the Lancers will be greeted in Sectionals by McCluer North at 1 p.m. on Nov. 5 at McCluer North.

It will be a rematch of their Sept. 17 meeting earlier this season, when the Stars dominated in a 27-0 victory.

They also won last season’s meeting at Lafayette,  30-17.

The Stars, now ranked sixth in St. Louis by the Post-Dispatch, average 32.8 points per game and have won nine straight games after losing their season-opener against Jefferson City.

In the first matchup, the Lancers managed just 139 yards of total offense in junior Matt Goro’s first start at quarterback after an injury to senior Dominic Bisesi. On defense, they allowed the Stars to run run 225 yards.

“Obviously they ran really well on a couple of plays and we knew it was coming,” junior safety Elliot Montgomery said, “They just executed.”

On offense the Lancers will look to pick up where they left off against Marquette, when junior quarterback Matt Goro completed 13 of 18 passes for a season-high 271 yards and two touchdowns. The Lancers also rushed for 111 yards, with junior Deonte Robinson and sophomore Kevin Hampton each scoring twice.

“We need to play good as a group and stick to what the coaches have for us,” senior reciever Tyler Manne said, ” We should be able to out-hustle them if we pound the ball because of our conditioning.”

“We’re angry about the first loss,” Montgomery added, “We have to do what the ’08 team did, which was win against McCluer North.”
