On Jan. 14, both of Lafayette’s varsity basketball teams will host Marquette, with the boys game being the team’s home opener. As usual, the rivalry is expected to draw above-average crowds from both schools.
But the audience for the second game could grow even larger, as the contest has been nominated to appear on KSDK’s “Home Court Advantage” broadcast.
Coverage would include live game reports on the at 5 p.m and 6 p.m. In addition, the network will air post-game highlights at 10 p.m that night as well as 6 a.m. and 9 a.m the following morning.
In order for the game to be chosen, Lafayette must gain the majority of votes in a poll currently being conducted on www.stlouis.highschoolsports.net. Voting will end at 10 p.m on Jan. 12 and the winning school will be announced Jan. 13.
