While the Lafayette defense broke its recent trend of dominance on Oct. 8, the offense picked showed no signs of slowing down in a 39-24 win over Oakville.
Junior quarterback Dominic Bisesi threw for 221 yards four touchdowns, with sophomore John Voigt and junior Will Dupont each catching two. The ground game was just as effective, as sophomore Deonte Robinson rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
The Lancers started rolling in the second quarter when they took a 13-7 lead on touchdown passes to Voigt and Dupont. After the Tigers retook the lead on a 21-yard run by Javon Henderson, Dupont caught his second touchdown to make it 19-14. The lead would change hands again as the scored on Darrion Moore’s second touchdown run just before halftime.
Lafayette would pull away in the second half after allowing a field goal to make it 24-19. Their special teams got involved late in the third quarter when senior Tim VanHorn fielded a short punt and ran it 19 yards for a touchdown. The Lancers added to their lead on a 25-yard pass to Voigt and a 28-yard run by Robinson.
With the victory, the Lancers improved to 4-3 and have a winning record for the first time this season. They remain fourth in the Suburban West standings, with District playoffs beginning on Oct. 15 against Parkway South (3-3). Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. due to Homecoming activities.
