In the highest scoring game played by the men’s lacrosse team, the Lancers came out on top in a vital conference game against Webster Groves by a score of 17-12.
With this win, the Lancers clinched the playoff berth, gaining the 6th seed in the Missouri state playoffs and ranking 11th in state.
The Lancers fell behind in the first quarter 2-3, but with determination and a playoff spot looming over their heads they fought and fought hard, adding six points in the second quarter when the Statesmen could only score two.
Juniors Justin Ruck and Tim Slocum dominated, both overachieving a hat trick by one. Senior Jake Pyatt and sophomore Justin Perry both contributed two goals. Senior JD Casias and juniors Bryce Rommel, Burke Smith and Hunter Windholz all added insurance goals to secure the win.
Slocum was named player of the game with his four goals, three assists, three ground balls and one take away.
The team is currently 9-7 and their next scheduled game is Monday, May 13 at 4:30 p.m. at Fort Zumwalt West.
