Heading into the Parkway West Invitational this Saturday Oct. 10, the boys cross country team may be young, but have found success throughout their season.
In the first meet of the season, the boys opened on their home turf at the 5k Seagrist Invitational. Freshman Dylan Quisenberry kicked off his season strong with a first place finish, while sophomores Alec Haines and Devin Meyrer took 8th and 9th as their times were separated by only four seconds.
At the Hancock Invitational last Sat. Sept. 28, the boys traveled to Jefferson Barracks to compete against tough teams including West Plains and Festus. The Lancers finished strong with five runners out of the top 20.
Quisenberry dominated with a first place finish overall, sustaining a time of 16:06.62. Junior Camden Barrett from West Plains ran the 5k in 16:13.77 giving him the second place medal. Also finishing in the top 10, freshman stand out Austin Hindman took 9th with a time of 16:41.33.
Stepping up for Lafayette, Quisenberry leads the Lancer crew to Parkway West, hoping to sustain his winning record while supporting his teammates. Although inexperience and nerves can get in the way of any young team, the boys have proven their abilities against any opponent.
