Lafayette varsity baseball lost its 2010 season opener 6-5 to the Rockwood Summit Falcons.
The Lancers scratched out five runs on only six hits. They had the lead going into the sixth inning, but gave up four runs in the bottom of the sixth to give Summit the lead heading into Lafayette’s last at-bat.
They were shut down in the seventh going one-two-three to lose the game. Notable players include J.T. Miller, who threw five innings and gave up two runs and had 10 strikeouts.
Josh Olejnik entered in the sixth and allowed four runs to give up the lead. Jacob Ripp went one for four, but had a key single for two RBIs. Tyler Werre hit one for three with a single and an RBI.
