Two weeks after the mid-term election, things look bleak for the Democrats.
They have lost the House of Representatives in one of the largest turnovers in American history. Their Senate lead has deteriorated and their slight lead is shaky due to the presence of moderates and independents in their majority.
The president’s popularity continues to steadily decline. These results should have sent a pretty clear message to President Obama, but it appears as though he has not gotten it.
The President has attributed his party’s losses to mere miscommunication, misunderstanding and a failure to properly communicate his message.
People are simply afraid of his agenda because it has been falsely accused of expanding government. Obviously Americans made their decisions out of misunderstanding and misplaced fear, rather than outrage over the skyrocketing national debt, concern over security issues and vehement anger towards a President who is seemingly out of touch with the American people.
It is a tragedy when the supposed representative of the people is either not aware of, or does not care about what the electorate wants.
Even amongst his own party, Obama has taken ideological losses. Joe Manchin, the Democratic Senate elect for West Virginia, ran on a platform rejects the current regime’s agenda. Democratic Senators and Representatives alike feel uneasy about continuing the President’s agenda and legislative style.
The Republican Party is more energized than they even were in1980, with the Tea Party at the heart of its push forward. Democratic hopes of a party split amongst Republicans have been dashed, as Tea Party candidates across the country won important races.
The tide is turning. The President has two years to learn. If he does not, his ignorance will be his downfall.
