Dress code rumors for 2012-2013 school year deemed untrue

Throughout the past few weeks, rumors have been flying that new dress code rules for next year will ban certain popular articles of clothing.

However, when asked about these rumors, Principal John Shaughnessy said, “There are no dress code changes for next year.”

The rumors stated that students would no longer be allowed to wear some of the following clothing items: Ugg boots, yoga pants, Nike running shorts and sweatshirts.

“I thought [the rumors] were ridiculous and they really freaked me out. I wear Nike shorts all the time and it didn’t make sense that they were going to ban them,” junior Ali Steele said.

Some students say the rumor started in Eureka, while others claim some middle schools have already implemented the new rules. No matter where the rumors started, however, they are not accurate and do not concern Lafayette.
