A boy who attends a magical school for witches and wizards, fighting beasts and his enemies. A prominent religion, practiced by over 13 million people in the world.
What do these have in common? Jewish Student Union (JSU) will explore the relationship between the world of Harry Potter and Judaism at their upcoming meeting.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, Dec. 1 right after school in Rm. 132.
Junior Nikki Frazer, JSU member, said Rabbi Gershie came up with the idea for the meeting. He comes to school specially for the meetings.
“[The meeting] will make Judaism seem more modern and give it a modern appeal and draw other people in,” Frazer said.
As the poster advertising the meeting said, they will answer the question, “What does the epic tail of witchcraft have to do with Judaism?”
