How to make a schedule change

Making a schedule change is a long and difficult process, but for some students it proves worth it.  For instance, if they didn’t get the teacher they wanted, the class they wanted, the hour they needed.

However, the time for “choice changes” is long gone.  A “choice change” is a schedule change because the student didn’t get into the class they wanted or the teacher they wanted.  Couselors only consider these changes before the semester begins so that as many students as possible can be in the right class from the beginning of the semester.

Although students can no longer make “choice changes,” level changes are allowed.  Level changes are a change in the difficulty of a class.  For example if a student enrolled in Honors Language Arts, but realized it was too hard, they would qualify for a level change.  They would still stay in language arts, but they would be in a regular class instead.

If a student were considering a level schedule change, they would need to first go to their counselor talking about the change they want to make.  Then, the grade level principal would need to approve the change after interviewing both the parents and the student.

Finally, the grade level principal would let the student know the decision regarding the schedule change, either making the student stay in the same class or allowing them to switch.
