With the updated library in the new wing of the school, more students are frequently visiting the library.
Llibrarian Nicole Ballard-Long approximated 700-800 students come into the library a day.
“They love it here, and so do we,” Ballard-Long said. “When we have two classes booked, study hall over-flow and lots of walk-ins, it gets wild in here.”
Of course, a lot of students coming into the library means a lot of students checking out books, and that means a lot of fines.
In order to resolve this issue, the library is having a fine forgiveness week.
However, fine forgiveness does not encompass all areas of library violations.
For example, if you lost a book, the library will not forgive you. You must return or renew the book before your fines will be forgiven.
Freshman Olivia Neumann said, “[Students] should pay the fines if the book has been out for a long time.”
Junior Renee Aston, however, disagrees, and said, “[Fine forgiveness is good because having so much homework and everything, it’s easy to forget about [returning books].”
